Retraction & Withdrawal Policy

Retraction & Withdrawal Policy is a policy for managing the retraction and withdrawal of manuscripts to ensure integrity, transparency, and accountability in scientific publishing. This policy follows best practices from:

  • COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics)

  • Directorate General of Higher Education regulations on Scientific Publications

  • SINTA accreditation guidelines

A. Policy Objectives

  1. Maintain the quality and originality of published articles

  2. Protect readers and the scientific community from false or misleading data

  3. Ensure a fair, objective, and transparent editorial process

  4. Support the journal’s reputation as a high-quality publication

B. Retraction Policy
Retraction is the action of withdrawing a published article due to serious violations of scientific integrity.

  1. Articles will be retracted if:
    a. Significant plagiarism (similarity ≥ 25%)
    b. Duplicate publication without declaration (redundant publication)
    c. Fabrication or manipulation of research data
    d. Research ethics violations (e.g., falsified ethical approval)
    e. Reporting inaccurate findings that endanger readers

  2. Retraction Procedure:
    a. The Editor-in-Chief conducts an investigation into the alleged violation.
    b. The Editor requests an official clarification from the author(s) within a set timeframe.
    c. If proven, the Editor issues a Retraction Statement on the journal website, including:

    • Title of the retracted article

    • Authors

    • Reason for retraction

    • Date of retraction
      d. The original article remains available on the website with a “Retracted” watermark on every PDF page to preserve the scholarly record.

  3. Impact of Retraction:
    a. The article is no longer recognized as a valid publication.
    b. Authors may face a publication ban for a certain period (typically 2 years).

C. Withdrawal Policy
Withdrawal is an official request by the author to cancel a manuscript before the publication process is complete.

  1. Withdrawal is allowed only if:
    a. The author finds a serious error in the data that cannot yet be corrected.
    b. The author withdraws the manuscript before review starts or in the early stages of review.

  2. Withdrawal is NOT allowed if:
    a. The review process is complete and the manuscript has been accepted.
    b. The author wants to transfer the manuscript to another journal without valid ethical reasons.

  3. Withdrawal Procedure:
    a. The author submits an official withdrawal request letter to the Editor-in-Chief, stating the reason.
    b. The Editor decides whether to accept or reject the request.
    c. If accepted, the manuscript status is changed to “Withdrawn” in the editorial system.

  4. Consequences of Unauthorized Withdrawal (e.g., after LOA issued):
    a. Authors may be charged a withdrawal penalty fee.
    b. Authors may face a submission ban for a certain period (e.g., 1 year).

D. Correction Policy (Minor Corrections)
If an article has been published and minor errors are found (e.g., typos, author name mistakes), the journal will publish a Correction Notice without retracting the article.
