Plagiarsm Policy

INDONESIAN JOURNAL OF AGILE MANAGEMENT (IJAM) holds a strong commitment to maintaining scientific integrity by enforcing a zero-tolerance policy on plagiarism. This policy refers to national publication ethics standards (Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education Regulation No. 20 of 2017) and international best practices (COPE – Committee on Publication Ethics).

A. Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism is the act of taking someone else's ideas, data, methods, analysis, or sentences and presenting them as one’s own work without proper acknowledgment of the original source. The following types of plagiarism are strictly prohibited:

  1. Verbatim Plagiarism – Copying part or all of a sentence or paragraph without quotation marks or clear references.

  2. Idea Plagiarism – Using another person’s ideas or conceptual framework without citing the original source.

  3. Self-Plagiarism – Reusing one’s own previously published work without declaration (duplicate publication).

  4. Mosaic Plagiarism – Piecing together content from multiple sources without adequate paraphrasing or citation.

B. Plagiarism Prevention

To ensure the originality of submitted works, the journal implements the following preventive measures:

  1. Similarity Index Check
All manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software (e.g., Turnitin, iThenticate, Grammarly Premium).

  2. Tolerance Threshold

    • Maximum allowed similarity index: 25% (excluding references and properly quoted material).

    • No single source may exceed 3% similarity without proper paraphrasing.

  3. Author Education
Authors are encouraged to use proper paraphrasing techniques and follow citation guidelines (APA or Harvard styles).

  4. Originality Statement
Each author must upload a signed Declaration of Plagiarism-Free Work.

C. Handling Suspected Plagiarism

If plagiarism is detected during initial screening or peer review:

  1. Similarity < 25% – The manuscript is returned to the author for substantial revision with mandatory improvements.

  2. Similarity ≥ 25% or severe plagiarism – The manuscript is immediately rejected.

If plagiarism is discovered after publication:

  • The article will be retracted from the journal’s website.

  • An official Retraction Statement will be issued.

  • The author may be banned from future publication for a specified period (e.g., 2 years).

D. Detection and Action Procedures

Standard procedures followed include:

  1. Similarity screening by the Editor.

  2. Confirmation of suspected plagiarism with the author for clarification.

  3. If the explanation is insufficient, the Editor makes a final decision in accordance with journal policy.

  4. All processes are documented in the journal’s editorial system (Open Journal Systems).

E. Benefits of the Plagiarism Policy

  1. Preserving Academic Integrity – Enhances the journal’s reputation as a high-quality scholarly publication.

  2. National Accreditation Compliance – Meets strict ethical publication standards for SINTA accreditation.

  3. Public Trust – Authors and readers are confident that all content is original and of high quality.

  4. Positive Academic Culture – Encourages students and academics to prioritize scientific honesty.

  5. International Collaboration – Facilitates indexing in DOAJ, Copernicus, and other reputable global databases.
